Metropolis with live music at Cornell Cinema

Cornell Cinema is having a super-cool event on Saturday – a screening of Metropolis (with restored footage that was just found in 2008!), accompanied by live music performed by the Alloy Orchestra.

They did this over the summer, too. I went, and it is a really, really, really great experience. A great film, great music, unique setting. This is a cultural opportunity that does not come up very often.

So yeah, I basically can’t recommend it enough. You can learn more (and get tickets online) at Cornell Cinema.

You can also learn more at wikipedia – they have articles about Metropolis and about the Alloy Orchestra.

GPSA Business meeting tonight

On Monday, September 13th the GPSA will be convening our first business meeting of the semester.

We’ll have three major pieces of business items to consider: the passage of the 2010-2011 GPSA Budget, the passage of the 2010-2011 Bylaws, and the approval of the GPSA Student Resource List.

Additionally, we will be hearing an update on the staffing of GPSA internal and external committees, an update on the University Assembly’s Charter Revision, a discussion on the GPSA Charter Review Process, and a Communication’s Committee idea to increase the visibility of GPSA accomplishments.

Our meetings are open to all members of the Cornell community. We’ll start at 5:30 in the Big Red Barn!

New toy

Since the GPSA is working on redoing our website, this recent XKCD comic seemed apropos.

I decided to modify it a bit by making an image map. In our version below, each phrase is a link to the appropriate page on the Cornell website. Click away and try it for yourself!

Image Map

It’s all clickable!

Seems like we’ll have to find a good use for it somewhere!
